IBD : Inflammatory conditions of the GI track
Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) cause long-lasting inflammation and ulcers in the digestive tract. IBD develop over time and affect the innermost lining of the large intestine. IBD symptoms depend on the severity and the exact site of the inflammation and may include: diarrhea, abdominal and rectal pains, rectal bleeding, weight loss, fever. The course of IBD may vary, some patients showing intermittent remission periods.

Models
We have developed and extensively characterized mouse models of Ulcerative Colitis (UC) that are induced by exposure to Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in drinking water for efficacy and MoA studies of compounds addressing UC. The DSS colitis models are very popular in IBD research due to its rapidity, simplicity, and reliability. We have also developed a rat model of Crohn’s Disease (CD) that is induced by an infiltration of TNBS.

Methods
We master gold-standard methods to provide you with high-added value data about your health products efficacy and mechanisms of action on key hallmarks of IBD such as food intake, body weight, circulating plasma biomarkers. In addition, we offer complementary techniques that allow performing histological and genomic analyses on key tissues and organs.
- Body weight measurements
- Food and water intakes
- Diarrhea assessment
- Disease Activity Index (DAI)
- Digestive tract histology & inflammation scoring, Proteomic & Genomic
- Plasma and fecal biomarkers
- Microbiome analysis
